EVENTS

The Pottstown Chapter had the privilege of hosting the first ever “Hope Walk.” They gathered at the Goodwill Ambulance company and made their way to the Pottstown Carousel. Carrying pictures of lost loved ones, those they are still believing for and those celebrating recovery, they marched bringing awareness to the opioid crisis in America!

Hope Fest 2022, such an impactful day!! Between Mr. Mody & Friends sets, individuals were able to get up and share their personal stories of how addiction had touched their lives. There were tears, there was laughter, there was pain, and there was healing, but together we celebrated the good times, honored those we lost, and rejoiced with those who have overcome!

Looking forward to Hope Fest May 2023, watch our page for more details!

DRIVES

Backpacks

Backpack drives are at the heart of Jamie’s Mom’s House, Be Somebody’s Somebody campaign. Bags full of toiletries, socks, gloves, hats, and snacks were given away to those in need. This crew embodied love to those on the streets in a tangible way this year!

Coats

Jamie’s Mom’s House was gifted a large amount of winter coats from Jay Crew that they were able to give to those in need. Of the coat recipients this year were Kate’s Casa, in Phoenixville, PA (a place for immigrants and their families) and the Wee Care Day Care, in Pottstown, PA. (economy friendly daycare in PA).

IMPACT CORNER

Backpack Drive Impact

Our group gathered at Memorial Park in Pottstown, PA.  It has been determined that there was a big need in this area. We offered clothing, shoes and more shoes, boots, food, drinks, hot dogs and a listening ear.

Our first patrons were a married couple, they were homeless and had a history of drug addiction. He was terminal ill with HIV and Lung Cancer. As he told his story, his wife sobbed, understanding the magnitude of his illness.

We recently had a rainy spell in our area for several days. Everyone that came to the drive had wet shoes and socks. Thank God we had dry socks and shoes to offer. One young man in particular had on slides with wet socks. He was able to find a pair of shoes that fit him, along with dry socks. Definitely put a smile on my face!!♥️

Backpack Drive Impact

The story that stood out the most to me was the young girl that recently delivered her baby in a friend’s bathroom. She was an addict living in a tent community, her baby was in a NICC unit at a nearby hospital.  How will she ever connect with her baby living in her present condition?  She so reminded me of my own daughter that overdosed and die in April. She definitely touched my heartstrings. I helped her gather some food and clothing that met her needs.  Can’t wait to reconnect with her and talk to her about recovery.

Jamie's Mom's House Impact

I am new to Jamie’s Mom’s House, so in this beginning,  everything is overwhelming. At this gathering (backpack drive), I became more vocal with those that visited, just trying to help them gather necessary items. If trust is gained, I hope to talk to them about getting help with their addiction and getting out of this situation altogether with God’s guidance.

I am so grateful to be a member of this heartwarming group.  There is nothing I can do to get my daughter back, but this group has been most supportive and filled a HUGE void in my life!

Member Impact

Everyone has a story. I met a young man named “Shawn”, he is a homeless boy, by boy I mean 20-25 yo. He has family but they are done with him, I gave him a face to show that we don’t give up on people and want nothing but the best for them! He lights up every time he sees me and just wants that hug! He is grateful for the help he has received, with no judgement. I love the smile on his face….I hope by the graces of God that he finds his way, until then I will keep giving him my positive message, that you are loved! ❤️❤️❤️
