WHAT IS THE A.W.A.R.E. INITIATIVE
The A.W.A.R.E. Initiative is a program of The Centre For Excellence of Pensacola which bring awareness to the modern day atrocity of Human Trafficking. Founded by the Centre’s Director Katie Barker, the A.W.A.R.E. Initiative was created to help empower an army of modern-day abolitionist who are educated to recognize Human Trafficking in our city. Equipped with the phone numbers needed, these abolitionist can bring justice and freedom to those in need. The time is now to #EndIt in our city!
OUR VISION
The A.W.A.R.E. Initiative’s purpose is to ensure that everyone in the City of Pensacola has the tools they need to become a modern-day abolitionist. Our goal is for everyone in the Pensacola area to know the signs of Human Trafficking, and to have a heightened awareness of what it looks like specifically in our city. We won’t stop until every person in our city has programed into their phone the National Human Trafficking Hotline Number.
OUR MISSION
The A.W.A.R.E. Initiative hosts free courses bringing awareness to the global, national, and local atrocity of Human Trafficking. We produce materials specific to the statistics of our city and work with other local agencies in a collective effort to bring awareness to this heinous crime. We canvas neighborhoods with printable materials, educating individuals on the signs of Human Trafficking and empowering them with hotline numbers of state and local agencies that are established to help victims.
